Request help to install Fedora35 workstation on a new HP desktop
by Elias Peiris
I am a user of Fedora 35 on an old computer. Because of low memory, low disk space and performance reasons I would want to install Fedora 35 workstation on to a new HP desktop. The computer had pre-installed Windows 11 (UEFI BIOS). I tried to install Fedora35 using a USB drive. In order to see the boot menu I had to provide acpi=off at command line. Installation to a partition went until that stopped with the error message "Failed to set new efi boot target". Tried to install without a Windows partition on a clean disk but got the same error. I managed to install Debian11 with a VGA screen. My system is Intel core i7 11 gen i7-11700@215GHz, 16G RAM with integrated Intel UHD Graphics 750.
May I have some instructions to follow.

[OT] LibreOffice Base?
by Fred
For years I maintained an Access data base for an organization I
belonged to. The way that worked best for me was to run Windows with
Access in a VM on my Fedora machine. That way, I could copy and past
from LibreOffice to Access for any additions and updates needed.
I re-read the 1st post to this thread and it sounds like you want to
"create an Access Database on F35 so my wife can use it also" Would it
work for you to create a Libreoffice Base file on your F35 system
and then install LibreOffice Base on her Windows computer?
Is it even possible to create an Access Database using Linux?
Especially anything that could be kept in sync? Importing tables and
queries is one thing but for using day to day??

Android Bluetooth won't stay enabled
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
Host:
Fedora 35
qemu-kvm-6.1.0-14.fc35.x86_64
VM:
android-x86_64-9.0-r2.iso
<hostdev mode="subsystem" type="usb" managed="yes">
<source>
<vendor id="0x0a5c"/>
<product id="0x21e8"/>
<address bus="1" device="8"/>
</source>
<alias name="hostdev0"/>
<address type="usb" bus="0" port="3"/>
</hostdev>
--> Virtual Machine
--> Redirect USB Device
--> Enabled: Broadcom Corp BCM207002A0 [0c5c:21e8] at 1-8
Is there an trick to getting my Bluetooth to stay
on inside my Android VM? I am unable to pair
anything as Blue Tooth turn back off as soon as
I enable it.
Many thanks,
-T

The migration mistake, again. Was: LibreOffice Base?
by M. Fioretti
Thanks to Samuel Sieb and to Fred, who in the tens of replies so far
to a request about LibreOffice Base seem the only ones to have noticed
that the OP had two almost completely unrelated issues, not one. The
first is some LO installation problem. The other is the REAL issue,
and the REAL, REALLY important question the OP asked, maybe
unconsciously, is a deeply different one:
Samuel Sieb:
> ...even if you do get this working, I don't think it's going to
> solve your original question. You can't create an Access database
> with LibreOffice and even accessing one is very complicated,
> probably requiring third-party components. (It might be easier if
> you're running LibreOffice on Windows.)
Fred:

> Especially anything that could be kept in sync? Importing tables and
> queries is one thing but for using day to day??
Here is how I would have answered the same question:
> The question “How do I replace Microsoft Access?” appears on the
> OpenOffice.org mailing list every other week. Every time [many
> solutions are posted but] nobody - starting from the
> original poster - understands what is really being asked..."
Continues here, please note WHEN it was first written, and about what:

Samba connections recently fail to Synology NAS in Nautilus
by Frederic Muller
Hi!
Since a few days ago (can't pinpoint exactly how long, but a few days)
Nautilus is telling me "nautilus unable to access location failed to
retrieve share list from server: invalid argument" when trying to
connect to my Synology NAS.
Checking on the NAS side I had SMB1 enabled as a minimum protocol
version. I updated this to SMB2 (and set SMB3 as max version), still no
luck. Though I do now have manage to have an empty nautilus windows
instead of an error message.
Any idea how to fix that?
Thank you.
