Runing Android apps?
by Frederic Muller
Hi!
I'm searched and found Andox, followed the more extensive tutorial and
still doesn't get to even start (which covers Andox on Fedora 30). I am
getting [session_manager.cpp:133@operator()] Failed to start as either
binder or ashmem kernel drivers are not loaded.
I was wondering if there was any simpler way to run just 1 'single'
android app on F36? Note that the app uses BT to gather one external
device information, in case that matters.
Thank you.

Questioned on orphaned package? aespipe orphaned but it compiles fine??
by Michael D. Setzer II
Was recommended to run
package-cleanup --orphans
Originally it found about 240 older files from previous
versions of linux an I've cleaned most out after doing
checks.
Running command now (-v 7.3 is due to having
LibreOffice 7.3 installed from libreoffie site that has them
listed). Some are packages loaded directly from rpm files,
and glade3 ones show lots of other things would be
removed. Issue is with aespipe.
package-cleanup --orphans | grep -v 7.3
aespipe-0:2.4f-1.fc33.x86_64
glade3-libgladeui-2:3.8.6-8.fc32.x86_64

uni2ascii-0:4.18-3.1.x86_64
xpr-0:1.0.5-2.fc34.x86_64
Have question on aespipe.
aespipe-2.4f-1.fc33.x86_64
78544 Aug 10 2020 /usr/bin/aespipe
Found a bugzilla report that shows it failed to compile
with Fedora 34, and would be removed??
Just downloaded it from site and compiled it just fine on
Fedora 35.
./aespipe --version
usage: ./aespipe [options] <inputfile >outputfile
version 2.4f Copyright (c) 2002-2019 Jari Ruusu, (c) 2001

compiling and then running strip on it result in
72240 Jul 2 04:21 aespipe
So, not sure what the compile errors where, and since it
showed as closed couldn't make comments.

Cleaning /var/lib/dnf/yumdb
by Michael D. Setzer II
Are files in /var/lib/dnf/yumdb of any use??
Dates of files and directories seem to all be June 20 2019
and seem to be for Fedora 29 and earlier.
Machine is currently running Fedora 35??
Is there a command to clean them correctly.
Are the just leftovers from pervious versions.
dnf autoremove didn't do anything.
du . shows total size as 42620 .
Was doing a search from files from / and saw a number of
old files in results.
Thanks.

Quesion on package-cleanup --orphans
by Michael D. Setzer II
Noticed that running package-cleanup --orphans
It gives a list of packages that are not part of the current
repos list rather than being just orphaned packages by
Fedora..
Created a little script to get various counts.
cat package-cleanup-check
echo "list of all orphans count"
package-cleanup --orphans |wc -l
echo "list of orphans linked to .fc repos"
package-cleanup --orphans | grep "\.fc" |wc -l
echo "list of orphans/non-fedora packages?"
package-cleanup --orphans | grep -v "\.fc" |wc -l
For me, it shows 284 on the regular run.
Get 237 when I have it only include ones with "\.fc"
That then has 47 that are not Fedora packages.
Of those 47, 43 are linked to libreoffice 7.3 that is
installed from site for testing.
These are the other 4 packages.
msttcorefonts-0:2.5-1.noarch
peazip-0:8.7.0.LINUX.GTK2-1.x86_64
uni2ascii-0:4.18-3.1.x86_64
viber-0:13.3.1.22-2.x86_64
Not sure why it lists packages from non-Fedora repos as
orphans? Don't know if the "\.fc" filter is best option..
Just interesting. Don't know if these means I should
remove the 237 orphans. Only see the aespipe one as
something I know I use??
Thanks.
Output from my little script.
