Strange behavior with F40 server iso and VM

Folks, this is an issue that has me frustrated. I created a VM under VMware and VirtualBox and allocated 400GB as the disk size. I installed the F40 server iso on the VM, and it showed the disk size as 400GB, and the install went fine. However, when I booted the VM and looked at the disk size it was 15GB. This happened on both VMware and VirtualBox. I created another VM and installed MATE-F40 iso and when I check the disk size there it was in fact 400GB. So for shits and grins I tried running VMware on Windows 11 and created a F40-server VM there and it too showed the disk size as 15GB. Why is there this limit? Is there anyway to make it the size I want? Paolo

KDE and Gnome Can't Start From SDDM After the Last Couple of System Updates

Hi, A couple of updates ago a system update installed Plasma 6.2, which booted fine after the update. I went into "System Settings" and went through all the options, I did change the display profile to one of the ICC profiles shown under the Colour options (sRGB). On the next reboot SDDM could not start KDE Xorg or Wayland, they both went to a black screen and the monitor went into sleep mode notifying of a loss of signal. So I tried starting Gnome which booted fine. Dnf said there were a lot of updates ready to go on so I put them on. On the next reboot Gnome would no longer start with Xorg or Wayland, exhibiting the same situations as KDE. To try and investigate the issue, I booted into SDDM and used ctrl-alt-F2 to switch to a terminal login, but that did the same thing, it displayed a black screen and the monitor went into sleep mode with a loss of signal notification. I'm currently sending this mail from Thunderbird under UBUNTU using the thunderbird configuration from the Fedora implementation. Can anyone give me any hints on what I can do to try to get around these situations? regards, Steve

Keyboard Repeat Under Wayland in KDE

Hi, I am having an issue at the moment in Eclipse and Konsole and when composing this message in Thunderbird, in KDE with Wayland, where when I press the enter key it randomly inputs Enter twice. This issue doesn't happen in KDE with Xorg, but at the moment that combination is unstable (KDE keeps crashing). I have tried increasing the key repeat delay to 1000, but that has made no difference. I have increased the delay to 2000, but haven't tested that yet. Can anyone suggest what I can look at to remedy this situation beside turning off the key repeat? regards, Steve

[Test Days] Fedora Virt and Upgrade happening NOW!

Hey Folks, As the GA date comes closer; we are trying to test the last few bits in Fedora. Fedora takes pride in smooth upgrades and to ensure this we host Upgrade Test Day[0]. This time we are hosting it from 2024-10-11 through 2024-10-15. This installment of test day is, however, a bit special, we are not only looking for experience with Upgrade but also if things like DNF5 plugins remain functional after upgrading to F41 from F39 and F40. Some plugin functionalities are WIP[1] and feedback about the rest will be highly appreciated. Virt is a very integral part of the OS. QA team is hosting a Virt Test Days starting 2024-10-11 through 2024-10-13. Please participate and help us iron out bugs before the release date. filezilla and firewalls

Hi, Trying different PCs and different connections (and firewall configurations) I can cause Filezilla to not be able to connect to a FTP server outside my LAN on one of them when the PC is connected through USB tethering on my mobile phone. Yet, another one works with the same USB tethered phone. It's a server that requires FTP over TLS. Does that scheme require any special firewall tweaking on a client PC or any special networking issues? false spam identification on some fedora mail

Hi, While checking on my systems I see that some mail from: List-Id: Fedora Package Announcements <package-announce.lists.fedoraproject.org> Was getting false-flagged as spam, this header indicates the prime reason: 5.0 URIBL_BLACK Contains an URL listed in the URIBL blacklist [URIs: datalad.org] -- uname -rsvp Linux 3.10.0-1160.119.1.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jun 4 14:43:51 UTC 2024 x86_64 Boilerplate: All unexpected mail to my mailbox is automatically deleted. uBlock in firefox throwing all kinds of microsoft style 'you have a virus' alerts

All; I am running Fedora 40, and I have deployed uBlock Origin tom get rid of the google sign-in on various websites, I have added this for my filters: accounts.google.com/gsi/* norton.* https://gipeswort.xyz/* However now I keep getting popups in my KDE taskbar/panel about Norton subscriptions, viruses found, etc.. It's almost like im running windows and getting all the windows virus sales popups again. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance

41 release date?

Hi All, I have noticed that Wine HQ's Wine Staging 9.19 won't install on FC41 due to dependancy fails. Wine HQ tells me they won't support 41 until 41 is officially released. Advice on Rsyslog.service Boot Failure

Hi, At boot time I'm getting the gui boot interrupted by a message that rsyslog.service failed. After the message is displayed there are no other messages displayed before SDDM starts. After starting up KDE starts, if from a konsole window I issue the command "systemctl status rsyslog.service" it tells me the service is enabled and active. Can anyone tell me what I need to look at to determine why the boot failure message is being produced if the service is being successfully started? regards, Steve
