When you installed to the external drive, it replaced the Fedora entry in
the EFI boot list to point to that instead of the internal drive.
Yes i understand that.
But unconnected drive and running grub2-mkinstall i thought, that an
Entry with my fedora 39 from infernal disk is generated. But it doesnt.

You have a Debian install on there as well?
Yes this is because i bought the laptop without Windows. The Debian Entry
just runs a Dokumentation of freedos, nothing else.

Is this with the external drive connected or not?
No without it.

Go into the BIOS and check the boot list. I'm wondering if you have a
Debian entry that is being used. You can also add another Fedora entry
that points to the internal hard drive.
Yes i have an Debian Entry and a Windows Bootmanager, but no fedora.
Before installing fedora Jam i Bad three: Debian, Windows and fedora. And
fedora was in the first place, so it starts from there.
But how could i insert a New Entry? I think, the BIOS does not recognize
the fedora one, or it is not there.
If i can install the Boot loader for fedora, then it will work again. But
how could i do that?

[need help] Grub does not find my Fedora39 anymore
by karlderletzte
Hello,
two days ago, i installed fedora jam 39 on an external drive. This runs
successfully.
BUT after restart and plug off the external drive Grub from my internal
drive does not show my fedora39 installation.
i have to choose the efi file directly via bios and loading efi file.
then it runs.
tried the different tips and tutorials from fedora, but in the end after
running the script grub2-mkconfig it always recreates the grub menu
without my fedora.
very annoying.
does anyone know, in which way this script identify the different os on
my disk?
here is the output of lsblk

Thunderbird Mystery
by Robert McBroom
On one of my f39 systems Thundebird fails to start claiming that it is
already running. "ksyguard" from root doesn't show anything I can
recognize as having to do with Thunderbird. Rebooting does not get it to
work. Looked at the ".thunderbird" file in the user directory and there
are lots of entries there to make sense about. I can't close an instance
that I can't find. The pop up window suggests using a different profile
but I don't see any way to select a profile.
Tried erasing Thunderbird and installing it again but the problem remains.

gnome-disks
by Robert McBroom
Attaching a drive with gnome-disks used to use the accessing user. It
now brings up a drop down menu of the list of all the users in /home. Is
there a configuration to tell it to use the active user?

imminent /boot problem.
by home user
(f-38; gnome)
Good morning,
While doing my weekly "dnf upgrade" a little while ago, I got the following pop-up at the top of the screen"
------
Low Disk Space on"boot"
The volume "boot" has only 20.9 MB disk space remaining.
Examine Ignore
------
Seeing that a new kernel needs...
over 74,000,000 (initrams*)
over 14,700,000 (vmlinuz*)
over 8,800,000 (System.map*)
over 200,000 (config*)
=============================
over 97,700,000 total,
I suspect that the next time I do weekly patches (next Thursday), it will fail.
I'm only keeping 2 old kernels now. I did not do anything to shrink /boot. What has grown so much recently? What do I delete?
Here's what's in /boot:

tigervnc server configuration limitation
by Sam Varshavchik
I'm not sure when Fedora switched to the current tigervnc systemd-based
configuration, but:
I've been using tigervnc to log in to an Ubuntu box, and it was simple to
set up tigervnc on Ubuntu for remote access. I just tried the same on Fedora
and was informed that launching vncserver was "deprecated", and pointed
towards the documentation for Fefora's systemd-based configuration.
Reading through that, the following limitation is a showstopper for me:
# # Limitations
# You will not be able to start a Tigervnc server for a user who is already
# logged into a graphical session.
That's a no-go for me. My Fedora system is configured to automatically log
into a graphical desktop. This won't work for me, then.
This is not a limitation on Ubuntu. It's too bad that Fedora cannot do the
same.

Copy broken in recent Firefox?
by Sam Varshavchik
Is it just me, or is everyone else no longer able to highlight any multi-
line chunk of code in Firefox, copy, then paste it somewhere else?
I did some experiments. I can highlight a portion of a line, and that can be
pasted in another window. Highlight anything more than a line, nothing gets
pasted. I tested this on multiple sites, so it's not a single site playing
games with me. Copy/paste does not work either via the mouse middle button
click, nor right click's copy popup menu, nor the main menu's Edit/Copy/
So, what's broken:
1. Something here.
2. Firefox.

Libre Office and the secondary clipboard
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
Fedora 39
libreoffice7.6-7.6.5.2-2.x86_64 (From LO's web site)
Is it just me or is LO's Secondary clipboard (<ctrl><C> etc.)
a real pain in your neck? The first copy work. The second
does not. The paste is still the first copy. I have to paste
to Leafpad and recopy to get it to work.
Odd that it will paste to Leafpad, but other maintain the
first copy. I can <ctrl><C> all I want in LO nd it is
still the first copy. And that includes inside LO. Why
Leafpad is working, I can only fathom.
