Webcam with LVFS ?

Hi guys. I think I read on Phoronix about Poly Studio webcams being supported by LVFS but searching through there I failed to find any specific which would confirm that. Does anybody here use Poly Studio P5 - or any webcam for that matter - which can confirm is LVFS-supported? btw. https://fwupd.org/ - although they/maintainers naturally do good job already I wished, that catalog of hardware was organized to be looked up by type/category of hardware - perhaps it is but I miss it? many thanks, L.

Update failure in Fedora 40

I am trying to upgrade my laptop to Fedora 41, but I cannot get a clean update state in the current Fedora 40. I ran "dnf update" successfully and it installed many updates including a new kernel. After a reboot, much to my surprise dnfdragora reported 18 updates available. rsync problems after update

On Fedora 40: For years I've nightly updated copies of three home directories using rsync. In yesterday's update, rsync updated to 3.4.0-1 and the nightly run failed on all three directories with the following error message: sending incremental file list Internal hashtable error: illegal key supplied! rsync error: errors with program diagnostics (code 13) at \ hashtable.c(88) [generator=3.4.0] Reboot (not done after update) did not change things. I downgraded rsync to 3.2.7-7 and the copy program ran normally. Anyone else seeing problems with rsync 3.4.0-1? -- Jon H. LaBadie jonfu(a)jgcomp.com

Hi All and RedHatters, Windows 10 is going to be End of Life soon. Canonical is promoting Ubuntu Pro. Does IBM have any plans for Red Hat to take advantage of this opportunity? I post this here as I see many people with @redhat.com frequenting here. Thanks, ----- Lee

Fedora F41 Hard Disk Performance

Hi, To test my hard disk performance I have run Kdiskmark and used the Real World Performance Profile. For its sequential read performance it is showing around 156 MB/s on my ST3000DM007-1WY1 (3TB Seagate Barracuda), which given that device support 1/3/6 Gb/s I/O speeds and the device is plugged into a 6Mb/s Sata port on the motherboard, is very poor performance. Doing some research on disk performance I found a reference to bad disk performance be attributable to BTRFS and that the disk should be formatted as EXT4, is this sentiment reasonable and if so why is Fedora pushing the use of BTRFS. regards, Steve

with dnf4 the dnf history was stored somewhere under /var/cache or /var/lib and was clearable by removing store files therein how does one nowerdays with dnf5 clear the dnf history ?

How do I fix my EUFI boot from USB stick?

Hi All, I am officially confused. Search.brave.com give tons of stuff I either can't use or can't figure out. I AM NOT DUAL BOOTING WITH WINDOWS!!! (That is dumb to do. Use qemu-kvm) I have a USB flash drive I have installed Fedroa 41 on. I somehow goofed my EUFI boot. Yes it was definitely my doing. How do I fix my EUFI boot on the USB drive from my main fc41 computer? The flash drive is completely readable from my main computer including the flash drive's boot folder I am concerned that I my goof my main computer EUFI boot in the process. Codecs for DJI O3 air unit

Hi! I'm trying to pay my recorded videos from the DJI O3 Air unit (4k/60fps) and mplayer tells me meta/x-gst-fourcc-dbgi decoder, meta/x-gst-fourcc-djmd decoder are required to play the file. Unfortunately I can't find them. VLC plays the file ok. Any idea where I can find them? Web search didn't help me so far. I did the |sudo dnf install libavcodec-freeworld --allowerasing sudo dnf swap ffmpeg-free ffmpeg --allowerasing sudo dnf update @multimedia --setopt="install_weak_deps=False" --exclude=PackageKit-gstreamer-plugin sudo dnf update @sound-and-video| |sudo dnf install intel-media-driver which fix gyroflow not exporting yesterday. Only libavcodec-freeworld had something installing. Let me know if you need more info, or if you know how to get those codecs. Thank you. Fred |
