Hey All, I would like to invite all of you to participate in the Kernel 6.13 Test week is happening from 2025-02-02 to 2025-02-09. Is VP9 hardware-accelerated in any of our web browsers?

Hi guys. All the browser I could try - minus those which HW accelerate AV1, for those I don't know how to check VP9 because those default to AV1 for playback - seem to ignore/skip HW acceleration for VP9. One browser I love to use HW is "Brave" - AV1 I am unable to get at all, every YT video which elsewhere I can play AV1, in Brave plays in VP9 and that runs off CPU only, so it seems. thanks, L.

OT: cheap hardware for video editing

Hi! I use a Thinkpad X1 carbon gen9 i7 with integrated intel video chip as my daily driver. Unfortunately I've been limited for extra-work activities such as video editing (was thinking of DaVinci Resolve) due to the lack of proper GPU, or flight simulator lagging (have to set to lowest possible video setting to get ok smoothness). I'm on a budget and was wondering what reasonable hardware you would recommend for such a task? I do have external monitors so it can be anything for that matter, as long as it doesn't cost too much. Fedora F41 Hard Disk Performance

Hi, To test my hard disk performance I have run Kdiskmark and used the Real World Performance Profile. For its sequential read performance it is showing around 156 MB/s on my ST3000DM007-1WY1 (3TB Seagate Barracuda), which given that device support 1/3/6 Gb/s I/O speeds and the device is plugged into a 6Mb/s Sata port on the motherboard, is very poor performance. Doing some research on disk performance I found a reference to bad disk performance be attributable to BTRFS and that the disk should be formatted as EXT4, is this sentiment reasonable and if so why is Fedora pushing the use of BTRFS. regards, Steve

Webcam with LVFS ?

Hi guys. I think I read on Phoronix about Poly Studio webcams being supported by LVFS but searching through there I failed to find any specific which would confirm that. Does anybody here use Poly Studio P5 - or any webcam for that matter - which can confirm is LVFS-supported? btw. https://fwupd.org/ - although they/maintainers naturally do good job already I wished, that catalog of hardware was organized to be looked up by type/category of hardware - perhaps it is but I miss it? many thanks, L.

where does dnf5 stores it's history ?

with dnf4 the dnf history was stored somewhere under /var/cache or /var/lib and was clearable by removing store files therein how does one nowerdays with dnf5 clear the dnf history ?

How do I fix my EUFI boot from USB stick?

Hi All, I am officially confused. Search.brave.com give tons of stuff I either can't use or can't figure out. I AM NOT DUAL BOOTING WITH WINDOWS!!! (That is dumb to do. Use qemu-kvm) I have a USB flash drive I have installed Fedroa 41 on. I somehow goofed my EUFI boot. Yes it was definitely my doing. How do I fix my EUFI boot on the USB drive from my main fc41 computer? The flash drive is completely readable from my main computer including the flash drive's boot folder I am concerned that I my goof my main computer EUFI boot in the process.
