F44 LiveOS fades to black and goes catatonic

I spend rather a lot of my computer time staring at the screen and deciding what to do next. During one such session, I got a popup message, presumably warning me about what happened next. While deciding what to do about the message, the screen faded to black and nothing I did with the keyboard or mouse had any effect. F42/Xfce - KVM monitor not waking up

I just got a new KVM, as my old one was dying. If I am away from my system, and it turns off the monitor, the KVM monitor does not wake up on activating the notebook. I have a Win10 system also on this KVM. I have to switch to it (it also turned off its monitor), mouse around to get it to wake up the notebook monitor. The KVM monitor wakes up. Then I can switch back to F42 and the KVM monitor is now awake and working. So Win10 is giving some wake up command to the monitor that F42 is not. Any ideas what to look for and fix for this? It is a pain to switch to the Win system and back to the F42 system just to get my KVM monitor active... thanks

Turning off extra Fedora-related traffic on Firefox?

I'm working on some privacy research, and logging what DNS lookups get made when a browser visits a site. Right now, I have the following list for Firefox on Fedora. The one site I'm visiting is blog.zgp.org which has no 3rd-party resources on it. All the rest of the DNS lookups are the browser and/or Fedora. Are some of these introduced by Fedora, and is it possible to turn them off? I'm already writing a prefs.js file into a temporary profile to turn off DNS over HTTPS. (I also want to get some of the extra Firefox stuff turned off. nvidia-modeset/kthread_q 100% CPU + frozen computer (nvidia proprietary driver)

Hi, Since I upgraded to fedora 44, I experience computer freeze under Plasma (wayland). Sometimes when in screen lock mode, I cannot log back again because the computer is not responding or it happens just after I unlock the screen. I can still log in via ssh and see that nvidia-modeset/kthread_q is using 100% of the CPU. PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 1073 root 20 0 0 0 0 R 98,8 0,0 17:17.71 [nvidia-modeset/kthread_q] The process cannot be killed with signal 9 or 15 and the the computer does not even turn off with shutdown command. The only thing I can do is to run the sysreq commands to reboot with Alt+Sysreq+REISUB. I use the proprietary nvidia drivers from rpmfusion (610.43.03). My laptop runs an AMD CPU (Ryzen AI 7 350 w/ Radeon 860M) with an NVIDIA GPU (GeForce RTX 5060). I recently upgraded the BIOS of my computer to the latest available but it did not improve. Hi, My sound card does not appear to be recognized on my Dell Premium PA14250. I followed this website: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/quick-docs/how-to-troubleshoot-sound-p… but was not able to make any difference. How do I boot a live OS from its .iso file?

I've been trying to boot Fedora-Workstation-Live-44-1.7.x86_64.iso without success. In grub2, I've gotten as far as making loopback work. I think that linux and initrd commands come next, but what parameters to give them, I am at a loss. Google has not helped. All suggestions have failed. What comes after loopback?
