Bear in mind that fsck only checks the filesystem structure. It does
not verify that the data in your files is complete or correct. The
filesystem structure itself occupies a very small percentage of your
disk space. The 16 bad sectors might be within your data files, in
which case those files may now be corrupt.
If you have backups, it would be a good idea to compare as many files to
known good backups as possible, after replacing the drive.
