I am using a chip made by ralink. I believe the drivers are all there. As for what else is needed by kernels nowadays IDK. I might have to reinstall everything with a basic desktop or workstation install. The thing with the minimal install with the network iso is are you going to get all you need. I was able to get it working for download and install. Maybe there's a text file somewhere needing edited.

What wireless usb are you using? Drivers can be a major problem. Many
long stories with Realtec
