So, in my view it's clear that there is something up with that
disk cause the tests failed even with the *vendor specific tool*.

I will, but hoped the smartmontools people may want to test a fix to the SCSI error:

did you save the output of that tool (log, photo) ?
I kept the log. I used the USB version (a bootable FAT32) and it saves the log by
default.
