Hi, everyone, I am having problems viewing ".asp" files. I don't get any errors in logs or on screen, when I try to open them I get the message "unrecognized file type". I have googled, and searched the mailing list but didn't see anything that would help. I did try removing and reinstalling python which was the only suggestion I found that might apply, but that didn't help. Can anyone point me to a reference of troubleshooting this issue or know the fix? Regards, Les H

Generally, that's a server-parsed webpage. What you get is the generated HTML. If you've saved a webpage, through a server and web browser, you might try just renaming it to .html file, so that a few things expect the file to by HTML. If you're working with the source files, directly, it's rather likely that they won't display in a browser in the way that you want. But they're just plain text files for editing. -- (This computer runs FC7, my others run FC4, FC5 & FC6, in case that's important to the thread.) Don't send private replies to my address, the mailbox is ignored. I read messages from the public lists.

That is what I was expecting. What should be opening them? I must have a setting wrong I think, since I believe (but do not know for sure) that they used to work. Regards, Les H

Do you want to view the file or edit it? If you want to view the file, and it is the Microsoft web scipting language, you need the server parsing part to make it readable. If not, you can just open it with any text editor. If it is an MPEG4 file, you need to open in with mplayer or something that does MPEG4 asp files.
