Hello i will change form gnome to kde. now i must select evry time at booting kde as the desktop. How can i set this as the primary desktop? switchdesk will not work permanent.

I just changed mine and I can't remember the place to change it for one person, but, the default is in /etc/X11/xinit/Xclients. -- jludwig <wralphie(a)comcast.net>

Well in the past I used to do a one liner that always worked; echo `which startkde` > ~/.xinitrc That would create a file called ".xinitrc" in your home directory and add the path of KDE, which in my case is: /usr/bin/startkde There are other ways but this was always easy for me and since I never really dabble with other desktops. -- Bill Schoolcraft PO Box 210076 San Francisco CA 94121 http://billschoolcraft.com

$ switchdesk kde does not work? Strange. But you can do this system wide for all users in /etc/sysconfig/desktop DESKTOP="KDE" In addition you can add: DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE" to enable kdm (instead of gdm) Christoph
