From what I can see the components that plugin requires are tied to Google Chrome, and it worked fine in Chrome but I had issues with it in Firefox Nightly getting it to recognise that those components were actually installed from the repositories, and from what I've seen that process seems to have changed recently in that the component in the repositories seem to have been superseded. I seem to remember seeing an update saying that a package being installed was replacing the original package. I haven't noticed any changes to the menus in Firefox Nightly, but then I haven't really taken a lot of notice of those as I haven't turned on the option to permanently display them. I have rpmfusion enabled so I'll have a look at these and also look at the multimedia link that Greg has provided to see it that sheds any light on the issue. One issue might be that I used to have codec's installed that provided the necessary functionality but those codec are no longer installed, possibly because of re-installing F36 from scratch when I did my hardware upgrade and moved away from raid so that I could run Linux natively instead of in a VM. regards, Steve

I'm not sure what the issue is here at the moment, maybe it is codecs that the upgrade from F36 to F37 have removed as video's on youtube that played fine in Firefox Nightly under F36 now won't play under F37, neither will they display in Chrome either. I did find an app called Videos already installed in the multimedia menus, and when I used that I found in there some trailer videos for Apple TV, which played without issue albeit without Audio. When a browser connects to a server it identifies itself with browser name, version number, your operating system, and may also claim to be the original Mozilla. Any one of those details can cause the server to give you different content (content negotiation is a two-way thing with browser and server). There is this message from journalctl -r, and there are lots of these when I try to play the video with audio unmuted: Dec 01 08:50:08 fedora pulseaudio[2638]: Failed to create sink input: sink is suspended. I've looked at pavucontrol and there was no indication of any audio while the video was attempting to be played. I did try to change the configuration of my headset device to Digital Surround 5.1 and that just produced static in my headset even though the headset is supposed to be 5.1 Surround, but when I changed it back to the Analog stereo setting the video started playing with audio output, and if I changed the configuration to Digital Stereo the video continued to play with audio without interruption. The other thing that was noticeable with this is if in pavucontrol I changed the firefox output to either of the other two devices that are shown, being my monitor and my external 5.1 surround speakers which are switched off, the video playing went back to the original state of only playing properly if the audio was muted. I'll continue to monitor this and see how it goes and if it continues to work then I might uninstall pipewire as that seems to not work properly on my system. regards, Steve

I tidbit I remember encountering with pipewire: If you reinstalled, but kept your existing home partition, you may have systemd "user" services disabled or masked that pipewire requires. One way to check this is to create a brand new user, login as new user and see if (with all the default for new user) sound works. If so, then all you have to do is figure out what the relevant difference is (good luck :-).

You have repeated many times that removing pulseaudio would remove gnome-shell. Suggested workarounds have been 'rpm -e --nodeps pulseaudio' followed by 'dnf install pipewire' and the perhaps more mainstream 'dnf swap pipewire pulseaudio --allowerasing' Any comment? John P
