Hi
I noticed over the past couple days I've been getting logs pertaining to failed module loading. Specifically sound-slot-1 and sound-service-1-0.
Now I have only 1 sound card and the modules for it are being correctly loaded, but now something is trying to load these for some strange reason.
I've suppressed the messages using the alias "off" option, but I'm wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to why these second card modules are trying to be loaded?
Thank you

I get those a lot too. All I know is they appear when something tries to open /dev/mixer1.

Do you think removing /dev/mixer1 and maybe /dev/dsp1 would fix this? Would it be safe to delete these two devices considering I have only one sound card?
maybe you would have more joy using alsa and oss emulation? or is alsa standard on fedora now. I dont know because I went for http://www-ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/ straight away...it is great!!

I am already using ALSA drivers. And just a FYI, FC2 will come standard with ALSA; FC1 still uses the OSS.

I don't think it would hurt. Ideally only the devices you really have should be represented in /dev. It won't fix the error though, just remove the symptoms, which you've already done.
It might not even be an error. It might be some program probing to see how many sound devices you have.
