I noticed that neither the sisfb module or support is compiled into the default kernel, I compiled my own building the sisfb as a module and modprobe it before running startx still no joy.

Interesting, FC3 test2 X appears to work so far. Turning off ACPI, APM, rhgb during install and at boot. Selecting Dell 1400X Laptop Display Panel.
