Hello out there,
I was searching for a HTML editor and found 'Bluefish'. I cannot found a
RPM package for my FC3 (my arch is 64 bit but 32 bit package is ok too).
Can anyone help or recommend another HTML editor (maybe one that one can
install with yum)?
P.S. I am asking myself all the time: why there is nothing like yum for
hardware drivers?

I've been running Bluefish for quite awhile. You don't need to install an
RPM; just downloard the source and compile. Works just fine for me.

Bluefish in RPM is available at http://heidelberg.freshrpms.net
Please install apt and synaptic from that site, too. It will help you
find a lot of good software. See fedorafaq.org for good software
repositories.

Quanta is by far the best open source HTML editor I've ever seen, it
supports not only HTML, but PHP, PERL, JavaScript, shell scripts and
about 100 other formats. It comes with a GUI-based CVS front end, and
project manager for uploading and maintaining your files on the server.
Other cool features are a multi-file search and replace function, and
autosuggest while typing that lets you choose tags, attributes, values,
PHP functions, etc. from dropdowns.
The package is called kdewebdev, and it comes standard if you install
KDE, so you might already have it (try typing "quanta" at a shell
prompt). If not, you can get RPMs or apt-get it easily.

Personnaly, I love Kate (...ahem... I mean, the text editor ;) ). IMHO
it's simple, clear and efficient. It supports a lot of file formats and
the syntax highlightning is really nice. Try it, it should be somewhere
on your distro CDs... ;)

I would just like add - with the possible exception of BBEdit (which I
haven't used in ages, my requests for a Linux port stopped being
answered ...) that bluefish is probably the nicest html editor I have
ever used.
I really like it. Spell check could use improvement, but :shrug:

Unfortunately you won't see any improvements to the spell checking until
after the next release. A new bug fix release of Bluefish should be out
Tuesday next week.

since then. However, I found Quanta+ to be better at the time.

It has.
I started using it I think in the middle of 2000, when it wasn't quite
so hot.
It has improved quite a bit IMHO.
At the time I actually preferred NEdit - but bluefish was gtk and I
must admit, I'm almost obsessive about wanting all my gui apps to be
gtk (I like consistancy in UI), so I used bluefish and watched it
improve.
Bluefish is really nice now. Been very good for at least a year imho.
I don't really personally care for gui html editors, I always found I
had to clean them afterwards with a text editor anyway.
A proffesional web dev may have different needs than me though, so I
can't say how good it is in that field.

Yes, I find the interface kind of busy and I managed to crash it at
one point, but it was certainly good enough for what I was doing
(configuring and customising a phpBB). I also quite like the clean
interface of Bluefish - my yum update just installed version 1.0 from
the Dag repository, haven't had a serious play around yet though.
