kernel OoPs after updating to 2.6.20-1.2933.fc6xen

Hi, Today after updating kernel-xen to 2.6.20-1.2933.fc6xen on one of our host I got kernel oops and machine rebooted, when it come back again i have no other choice but to edit grub.conf and make the last working kernel ' 2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6xen' the default one which working fine. DemU(s) working fine with with same kernel 2.6.20-1.2933.fc6xen, we use loopback mounted fs for domU(s) Here are the messages i found on screen before machine got rebooted (Note: machine is remote to me thousands of miles away therefore i can't check its boot screen :-S ) Now I am reluctant to update kernel-xen on our other remote hosts, never got into such issue on FC6 while updated kernel-xen. Gnome and virt-manager

OK, what is it that virt-manager needs from a Gnome session? If I point DISPLAY at a plain X session just running fvwm without the 47 gnome daemons and panels and other bling, a window flashes up quicker than the eye can see, then disappears. What the heck is it depending on from the gnome session?

Hello, I run FC6. I installed another FC6 on a partition. It installed ok but I can't start it from virt-manager. Xen 3.0.4...

Hi ! Correct me if I'm wrong, but considering this : - FC6 ships with Xen 3.0.3 with xen-kernel version 2.6.20 - Xen 3.0.3 has a serious performance bug (see http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2006-10/msg00487.html ) - This bug is fixed in Xen 3.0.4 - Xen 3.0.4 ships with xen-kernel 2.6.16 Is it possible to install both a recent kernel version (>2.6.18) AND Xen 3.0.4 and still take advantage of the FC6 update mechanism ? Can I install the xen kernel shipped with FC6 and regularely updated through the update system, AND have a manual installation of Xen 3.0.4 ?? Luc

rhel5 hvm constantly crashes.

I've got (so far) 5 different OS releases running as HVMs in near identical VMs, all created by virt-manager with a file-backed disk image, all x86_64, all running under x86_64 Fedora Core 6 Dom0 (Opteron system). The rhel5 VM crashes (goes into 100% cpu usage, and becomes non responsive) every few hours. I get the impression it might be related to disk I/O, since it has also crashed doing things like downloading the giant openoffice-core update rpm. All the other VMs have been up since they were installed, many happily doing big I/O like beagle-build-index, makewhatis, etc. Anyone know of a specific problem with rhel5 and qemu disks? Or any other problem that makes rhel5 hate running as a VM? The last time it crashed, I tried to do a shutdown from virt-manager and it wouldn't go away. Now it is showing up as a Zombie VM (great, VMs can get zombified, just like processes :-). Is rebooting the Dom0 the only way to clear a zombie VM?

opensuse hvm under fc6?

I've been happily installing hvm's under fedora core 6 (x86_64), and then I got to opensuse 10.2 (also x86_64). When I try pointing virt-manager at the DVD image and installing with a big file for a virtual disk, the VM crashes almost immediately. Anyone seen this? It is just the blasphemy detector that triggers it? :-). (Though sles10 installed OK, it is just opensuse with the problem). I get the same thing when I try the "mini" ISO for a network install.
