More space on the Xfce spin
by Christoph Wickert
Yesterday XZ compression hit rawhide and the nightly spins dropped from
~694 MB (i686) / 695 MB (x86_64) to 567 / 568 MB.
Now the question is: What are we going to do with this space? What would
you like to see in the F15 Xfce spin?
Some suggestions:
* libreoffice, at least writer, calc and impress
* gnumeric again (if we don't do libreoffice)
* more remmina-plugins: ATM we only have ssh, rdp and vnc, but
xdmcp, telepathy and nx are available, too
* more development stuff, e.g. meld and more geany-plugins
* games, e.g. gnome-games?
More ideas?

Christoph

Look and Feel of GTK-3 applications
by Marcus Moeller
Hi all.
If you have tested the current F15 composes, you might have noticed that
GTK-3 applications does not fit with the rest of the theme design. I
have tried to digg a bit into how themes are treated with the latest GTK
version and stumbled across:
http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/unstable/gtk3-Resource-Files.html
So from that, I have tried to change the gtk theme by creating a
.gtkrc-3.0 which points to a theme using the include statement, but
without any luck. Any ideas what I might miss?

[rawhide] No sound in runlevel 3
by Martin Sourada
Hi all,
(no) thanks to new gdm runlevel 5 no longer works (hope it gets fixed)
as means to get to xfce so I tried runlevel 3 and startxfce4, however
this way I get no sound. So due to dependency chain I'm unable to
update everything related to gtk3 to be able to keep old gdm... Anyone
knows what might be the problem and how to solve it?
Thanks,
Martin

Gigolo
by Marcus Moeller
Hi all.
Now that Thunar supports a lot of network protocols and handles local
media quite will, I would like to ask if it's still necessary to include
Gigolo?

Yikes! Panel disappeared; Won't start from 'settings', either (F14)
by Ron Leach
List, good afternoon,
Switched on netbook as per usual today, login, but then there's no
'panel'. I can right-click on the desktop, navigate the applications
to 'XFCE settings' but when I click on 'panel' nothing happens.
(Other settings 'applets' work fine.)
I've gone through Display, Desktop, Window manager etc, these settings
all seem fine.
My guess is the 'panel' applet isn't running.
Bit of a problem, because I use the network item on the panel to
select a network for connection.
Another clue, at login screen, there is a 'panel' which shows language
and keyboard selectors. After login, though, the panel disappears and
doesn't come back.
I know that this is F15 testing day, but hadn't realised my netbook
knew, too. :) More seriously, could anybody hint what I should check
to see why the panel isn't coming up?
I'd like to double check that it isn't caused just by a 'desktop'
switch, could anyone also let me know how to switch desktops when the
panel isn't there?
Sorry for the so-basic questions. Both F13 and F14 have been really
reliable for me on netbooks, and so I don't know enough to
troubleshoot them.
Very many thanks,
Ron

Xfce Test Day tomorrow!
by Adam Williamson
Remember, everyone tomorrow - 2011-02-17 - is Xfce Test Day! F15 will
have Xfce 4.8 and this version is in already, so we need lots of testing
to make sure it's all working fine. All the test info is on the Wiki
page - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2011-02-17_Xfce - and
we'll be in #fedora-test-day to help out and discuss results. Do come
along if you have some spare time.
