Reminder: please test Xfce 4.12 packages on EL-7
by Mukundan Ragavan
I had written earlier [0] about the availability of Xfce 4.12 packages
in EPEL testing repositories. This is a reminder for the same.
Link to update -
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-EPEL-2016-262a3f39e1
Some notes from [0] are worth repeating here -
- libxfce4ui obsoletes libxfcegui4
(plugins using libxfcegui4 were never built for EL-7)
- xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin obsoletes xfce4-mixer and xfce4-volumed
(xfce4-volumed is not even in the repos)
- xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin uses pavucontrol as sound mixer which is
unavailable in EL-7 at the moment.
Additionally, if you have any xfce plugin installed that is not from
EPEL repo, it is likely that the plugin will conflict with newer
libraries provided by the update. This would need to resolved manually.
Mukundan.

RFE: virtual keyboard for Live DVD/USB
by ToddAndMargo
Dear Fedora Xfce Live Developers,
Request for Enhancement: please in a virtual keyboard for those
situations where the computer in question has a Blue Tooth keyboard,
such as on an Apple MAC.
"florence" is in the repos and works very well on my sticks
I keep its RPM on a separate stick and have to "click"
on it to install it. I also have it installed on my direct stick.
Florence is very simple and just works without any "drama".
Believe it or not, about one in every three computers I need to
boot off a live or direct install stick are Apples. (You hold
down the "option" [not the flower] key when booting to select
your Live or direct USB.)
Many thanks,
-T
Mac keyboards can be described in one word: miserable. Mac
users must not create a lot of text. Seems like
they mainly click a lot. Who knows ...
Chuckle: the older versions of MAC think that the Live USB
is a "Windows" stick. Newer ones call it an "efi" stick.

F24 Beta Release Notes (coming next week)
by Justin W. Flory
Hello all,
Before going further, please note this is a cross-posted thread! There
is a low-traffic mailing list, logistics(a)lists.fedoraproject.org, which
was created for multi-list collaboration on things like this topic. To
centralize discussion, please consider using that list for replies (even
if you unsubscribe after the discussion finishes).
Anyways, assuming all goes according to plan, the F24 Beta is due to
land on May 3rd, or in seven days from today. Therefore, it's time to
review and look over the release notes for the F24 Beta. The current
draft can be found on the wiki.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/F24_Beta_release_announcement
As of now, it is a forked version of the Alpha release announcement with
a few changes based on information I gathered from #fedora-qa. If you
could take some time to review the release notes and ensure everything
is *current* and correct since the Alpha release for areas you are
familiar and knowledgeable with, that would be appreciated so we can aim
to ship this next week.
Thanks all!
