FWIW, I've been able to boot a Fedora LiveUSB on Apple hardware (Macbook
Air from 2015, Pro from 2013) using just the `dd` method. I haven't
tried `livecd-iso-to-disk` though.

Did you have to go into the Apple UEFI bios and tell it to boot off
the flash drive first, or was everything automatic?
