could we switch Evince for Atril from MATE? It fits better to Xfce.
Atril is basically an old Evince version using gtk2.

wasted much energy at cursing at current Evince (it used to be such a

sure it gets us much. How active are they? Any other advantages?

Atril wont save space, on the contrary it drags in mate-desktop-libs to
the picture, however it fits the overall look and feel MUCH better than
any of those "modern" gtk3 abominations.

+1 from me. I've been using it a long time instead of evince (with a
short mupdf interlude which renders pdfs much faster and much better,
however it does not have any gui...), because of the UI insanity that is
happening with (almost) every gnome app. Atril is perfectly usable,
works and I hadn't noticed any bugs in couple of years of daily usage.

Well, the good part is we have ~100 MB of space at the monment with
the live CD and based on my quick test changing to atril should not
consume too much anyway (~3 MB on my system).

Well, I'm not really bothered by evince's UI, but I don't look at pdfs
all that often either. ;)
Anyhow, I'm fine with making the change, but looking at it, I don't see
us pulling in evince either. ;( (Either in comps or kickstart).

I would prefer stick to the real upstream instead of moving to a, in my
opinion, dead end.
If you get used to the new interface, I don't think there's a big deal.
If you want to get atril, you could always install it, but looking at
the "First" in the fedora foundations, I would strongly prefer evince
with gtk3.
