It's not that it's not compatible, as much as LDAP isn't really meant
to work like this. Each machine should have it's own unique IP to avoid
replication confusion. If you have a VIP, it should be on your load
balancer.
Better, a load balancer allows better cluster management like
adding/removing hosts, failover, etc. It gives you more options.
