I would prefer that copyleft-next at least has a website with some
kind of rationale statement, a list of releases at permanent URLS
and a link to the mailing-list archives -- before any kind of advocacy
of the license takes place. Asking code hosting sites (or any other
software which provides an option for authors to select a license for
their work) to include copyleft-next seems like advocacy to me :)

I wouldn't worry about advocacy attempted thus far. The bug against Launchpad got
outright killed with a WONTFIX. I will restrain myself from any further attempts at
advocacy for the time being.
