Hey Todd. My name is Michael, and I have a lot of experience dealing with
Supermicro hardware and the LiveCD as a combination. I'm not an authority
on LiveCD creation or maintenance, but I do have some tricks. What's the
specific error you're getting?
I've used DD to copy a livecd to a USB stick many times, so I would say
it's probably fine to back it up that way. You may want to test it on a
clean separate USB stick first.

Hi All,
I have a cherried out Live USB I use at customer sites. It gives
me a bad time booting on some systems, especially ones with Supermicro
motherboards. HP always boots.
Is there a way I can update the boot portion on the stick with
the latest utilities to see if that helps? Or, do I have to wipe
and start over?
And, to do a back up in case things go wrong, can I use "dd"
to backup and restore?
Many thanks,
-T
