Stephen,
smis-providers is a dead horse and unmaintained (modulo build fixes)
for a long time. You can find a svn git import at
https://github.com/kkaempf/smis-providers
libstorage is very well maintained at
https://github.com/openSUSE/libstorage
I'd like to take a look and see whether
we can work towards potentially merging them where appropriate. They
may - as Jan says - be unsuitable in their current incarnation, but
I'd love to see if we can work together on improving them.
More power to you ! ;-) I believe libstorage is pretty complete in
terms of storage configuration, but its main driver is still YaST.
Getting a new perspective here will certainly improve its usefulness.
