The last message on this list has been half a year ago, let me change

This year's Red Hat Summit is only a mere five weeks away, so I wanted
to remind everyone of the event itself and, more so, the wiki page
[1]. If you plan to attend this years summit, please add yourself to
the list(s). Please do so even if you can't help out at the booth
etc., just so we know who in Fedoraland we can get in touch with. And
who to invite for Fedora dinner! The more the merrier, they say.
That said, the booth schedule is still awkwardly empty. If you have
some time between sessions that you'd be willing to spend at the
booth, please add yourself. Don't fear it'll be boring or that you'll
miss out on interesting (business) contacts (in case your employer
sends you to the summit it's all about networking anyway, right?),
I've actually had some great business-related conversations with
random people as part of my booth-duty in the past. Also, your fellow
Fedorians (and people of other Red Hat sponsored projects which used
to have a booth next to ours in the past) make for pretty great
contacts themselves!
Let me also remind you there's still a few tasks that need an owner,
and those who have one already might be happy to get a helping hand.
And in case you've missed it: Sarah White has only just recently added
some Ideas/Brainstorming: maybe you have more ideas to add, maybe
there's some idea there already that you want to help implement. Maybe
they need to be discussed on this very mailing list. Do it! Now!
To make this more than just a lousy letter begging for help (every
little bit helps!), let me actually add a productive touch:
Robyn, do we have any news on booth location, available room(s),
Fedora dinner, other projects to have booths next to ours, ...?
I will update on
booth location and arrangements when they are a bit
more finalized, hopefully tomorrow at some point. I know where the booth
is but I will need to pull out documents to explain what floor we are
on, etc, but it's among all of the conference rooms, and we have a very
large space - we're not in some sort of numbered booth location in the
18th aisle on the left or anything like this.
Same goes for Fedora dinner - some of that hinges on other things I
don't have details finalized for yet. I will have to discuss with the
RHT folks if there are any additional rooms available, I don't know that
offhand but I don't think it would be on a permanent basis, nor would it
be near the booth where we are now.
As for other projects: Gluster, OpenShift, and JBoss are the other
community spaces, which are located within, well, walking distance, but
they're not in our immediate vicinity (and in the case of OpenShift and
JBoss, on a different floor).
Ruth Suehle is working on getting us a stand-up Beefy Miracle to take
pictures with.
In short: My time sucks right now, and I expect I won't be able to
update everyone on all of the logistics we're working until Monday (as I
wait for some details from Summit peeps, etc). I think once I have some
of those answers we can start thinking about any additional
brainstorming things we want to work on, aside from the things that
Graphite6 listed.
Looking forward to seeing you all in Boston! Soonish!
