[Bug 1217953] New: '--nombr' option from bootloader keyword in kickstart file is not documented
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1217953
Bug ID: 1217953
Summary: '--nombr' option from bootloader keyword in kickstart
file is not documented
Product: Fedora Documentation
Version: devel
Component: install-guide
Assignee: pbokoc(a)redhat.com
Reporter: franta(a)hanzlici.cz
QA Contact: docs-qa(a)lists.fedoraproject.org
CC: pbokoc(a)redhat.com, zach(a)oglesby.co
Description of problem:
'ksverdiff -f F20 -t F21' command (among others) print:
"
The following options were added to the bootloader command in F21:
--disabled --nombr
"
But F21 'Installation Guide' in "A.2.2. bootloader" chapter:
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/21/html/Installation_Guide/sec...
not mention '--nombr' option for this keyword.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
F21 Installation Guide (above URL)
ksverdiff from pykickstart-1.99.65-2.fc21.noarch
Additional info:
- for unknown reason, RH Bugzilla offers only 'devel' version for this issue,
although I want report it again F21.
- of course, there may be bug somewhere in 'ksverdiff'.

[Bug 1214964] New: Hold Option to select boot source on Mac hardware
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1214964
Bug ID: 1214964
Summary: Hold Option to select boot source on Mac hardware
Product: Fedora Documentation
Version: devel
Component: install-guide
Assignee: pbokoc(a)redhat.com
Reporter: beland(a)alum.mit.edu
QA Contact: docs-qa(a)lists.fedoraproject.org

I'm not sure where to find the draft of the Fedora 22 Installation Guide, but I
went through the Fedora 21 version steps in order to install the beta today.
One suggestion for the new version of this page:
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/21/html/Installation_Guide/cha...
I recommend adding something like "On Mac hardware, hold down Option to enter
the boot media selection menu." Mac hardware with Intel chips is rather common
now, so I hope a significant number of people would be aided by that addition.
I spent several hours trying to figure that out the first time I put Fedora on
a Macbook.
Thanks!

[Bug 1280529] New: Document incorrectly suggests using FQDN in /etc/hostname
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1280529
Bug ID: 1280529
Summary: Document incorrectly suggests using FQDN in
/etc/hostname
Product: Fedora Documentation
Version: devel
Component: networking-guide
Assignee: swadeley(a)redhat.com
Reporter: jkeating(a)j2solutions.net
QA Contact: docs-qa(a)lists.fedoraproject.org
CC: swadeley(a)redhat.com
Description of problem:
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/23/html/Networking_Guide/ch-C...
This section of the documentation recommends using a FQDN for the static
hostname, which is stored in /etc/hostname. However if one does that, uname -n
(to find the node name) will always return the FQDN. This has impact on
subsystems like python when determining the short name of the host. A better
solution is to use the shortname in /etc/hostname and supply a FQDN in
/etc/hosts.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
devel (shown as 23)
How reproducible:
Very
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Follow directions leading to FQDN in /etc/hostname
2. uname -n
3. hostname -s
Actual results:
FQDN shown as nodename, which does not match hostname -s
Expected results:
uname -n and hostname -s would both report the same short name, as defined in
/etc/hostname
Additional info:
The RHEL7 documentation also suffers from this defect.

[Bug 1292310] New: fedora-release-notes.webapp.desktop, line 7, has
unnecessary escapes, and will not parse correctly (in some cases)
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1292310
Bug ID: 1292310
Summary: fedora-release-notes.webapp.desktop, line 7, has
unnecessary escapes, and will not parse correctly (in
some cases)
Product: Fedora Documentation

Description of problem: When parsed by KConfigIni, these errors appear:

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): latest rawhide
How reproducible: Every time
Steps to Reproduce: run any KDE app (in GNOME or elsewhere)
Actual results: See description
Expected results: Epiphany display
Additional info:
The installed .desktop file works fine in GNOME, but causes errors when any KDE
application that causes KConfigIni to run is started from a terminal in GNOME
This line 7 works fine in GNOME, and, when parsed by KConfigIni, no errors are
produced.
Exec=sh -c
"PROFILEDIR=$HOME/.config/epiphany/fedora-release-notes;DOC=/usr/share/doc/fedora-release-notes/index.html;
[ -d $PROFILEDIR ] || mkdir -p $PROFILEDIR;epiphany --application-mode
--profile=$PROFILEDIR $DOC || xdg-open $DOC "
(Note also the added "-p" option to the mkdir command. I seldom use epiphany,
so I had no "epiphany" sub-dir in /.config. Adding the -p made it work.)
