rpmlint: E: subdir-in-bin

Hi all, The Darwin Streaming Server (DSS) package I'm working on is nearly prepared, i'm just debugging the last rpmlint errors and I have a few doubts on procedures to fix this errors. Currently I have a "subdir-in-bin" issue. DSS installs in %_sbin a directory called "StreamingServerModules" with a few modules. I suspect this directory doesn't really need to be in %_sbin as we have a configuration file in which we can define "DEFAULTPATHS_SSM_DIR" (DSS module directory, the one triggering this rpmlint error). My humble question is... where should I move this directory to (arch dependant)? Things I can think of: 1. %_libexecdir/%{_name}/StreamingServerModules 2. %{_libdir}/%{_name}/StreamingServerModules Anyone can give me a suggestion for this ? Thanks in advance, nelson marques

EPEL packaging - %ghost on logs...

Hi all, I'm starting to make a package (Darwin Streaming Server) to submit to EPEL and I have a small doubt regarding the logs generated by DSS... 1. Should we %ghost the logs on the spec file so that when the package is removed the logs go alongside with it ? (Personally I like the logs to stay behind, but I'm more interested on how this should be done for EPEL). BR, NM

Hi all, Does EPEL accept packages licensed as Apple Public Source License v2 [1]. I was interested in maintaining Darwin Streaming Server [2] in a repository that has a bugzilla/jira/whatever. Eventually EPEL (preferred) or RPMFusion for Fedora and EL5/EL6. There's no big story behind it, just that I need to maintain it for my employer and could be interesting to maintain it on one of the mirrors we use, eventually more people might like it and such option would most likely improve the quality of the package because of the more demanding packaging quality required. In case this is possible, what's the standard procedure to start the process ? Thanks in advance. yum-cron in EL 6.1, not in CentOS 6.0

Hello, I was happy to see yum-cron ported to EL 6.1, however I was disappointed to find (just now) that its been removed from EPEL 6 before making it to CentOS 6. Am I missing something, or do all yum-cron users just need to wait for CentOS to pull it? Any chance we can update the policy/docs/etc regarding not removing packages from EPEL until they are in both RHEL and CentOS? Maybe something for the next EPEL SIG meeting, unfortunately I won't be able to attend it. --- derks
