* What do you need covered? (Please estimate the costs in USD.)
* Air ticket from Belo Horizonte, Brazil to Phoenix (Round-Trip). Cost:
~$1,570.00 from Continental Airlines.
* Lodging.
* Will a partial subsidy be helpful? (Yes/No)
* No. I am a college student therefore I will need full subsidy, but I
can afford my daily expenses such as taxi and meals.
* What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific as
possible.)
* I intend to participate specially for learning how a FUDCon in NA is
held and organized. I intend to use this experience to help organizing the
next FUDCon in LATAM. I want to learn how barcamps and hackfests are
organized. I have been working on internationalization and localization
quality assurance so it will be a great opportunity to get together with
other folks and create value for Fedora. I intend to run an i18n/l10n
testing hackfest in order to experience how it happens in the NA context.
I attended to both FUDCons in LATAM and I will be able to exchange
positive and negative experiences with other attendees and organizers.
* If your request is for an airfare, please include complete flight
information -- either flight numbers, or desired departure and arrival
locations, dates, and times.
* This can be quite flexible for me. But probable flight information is
here:
* From Belo Horizonte (CNF) to Phoenix (PHX) - depart: Jan. 27, 2011
6:55 p.m. - arrive: Jan. 28, 2011 9:50 a.m.
* From Phoenix (PHX) to Belo Horizonte (CNF) - depart: Feb. 1, 2011 4:00
p.m. - arrive: Feb. 2, 2011 2:27 p.m.
* Include any additional, relevant information.
* Getting a visa might take 60-90 days and I will need a letter of
recommendation.

#66: Request for Invitation Letter to attend FUDcon Tempe

Hello guys,
Getting into the States in the past has not been a problem for me, but
experience dictates that a invitation letter improves a lot the chances in
obtaining the permit. I've been told also that an original printed and
signed letter is better than an electronic one, so -if possible- I'd like
to request the second.
Best Regards

For FUDCon Tempe, we need:
(1) Someone to either make, or work with the Design team to have made,
a design for the shirt
(2) Someone to get all the vendor stuff sorted out so someone from Red
Hat can call, give credit card info, and the shirts will be made and
sent somewhere appropriate for the event.
Do I hear any takers?

#57: Need spot on wiki for something along the lines of "Looking for a roommate"

We should probably have a section on the wiki for people who are actively
looking for a roommate. Not sure where the best place to put it is; maybe
below the attendee registration, or in the "hotel information" section?

FUDCon event planning
Hi FUDCon Tempe travelers from outside North America,
Please make sure you have done both of the following to secure your
lodging for the FUDCon event.
(1) Locate a roommate for FUDCon Tempe who's on our subsidy list. The
list of subsidies is here:
http://tinyurl.com/fudcon-tempe-subods
All the subsidized people have a "Y" in the granted category.
Make sure both you and your roommate note your choice in the "Room
sharing" column on the wiki pre-registration table:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:Tempe_2011#Pre-registration
(2) Either you or your roommate needs to make a hotel reservation. We
want to make sure our hotel block obligations are made. Some of
you may have done this already. The links you need are here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:Tempe_2011#Lodging
If you need to extend your dates beyond three nights (and many of
you do), try setting the dates in your reservation using the links
provided. If that does not work, please let me know, or you can
call the hotel to have them make the changes for you.
Please don't delay! Our rates are only guaranteed until NOVEMBER 5
(2010-11-05). Thanks and I look forward to seeing all of you in Tempe
next year!
(Also, I realize a couple of you may be awaiting final resolution of
your airfare. Don't worry, we'll make it happen! Go ahead and get
your hotel taken care of, as shown above.)

Hi FUDCon Tempe folks,
I wanted to point you to a post I made yesterday regarding the kinds
of things I'm working on these days:
http://paul.frields.org/?p=3416
I wanted to drop a short note to the list as promised to talka bit
about my FUDCon involvement over the next several months, especially
as it pertains to FUDCon Tempe. Our "street team" including Robyn,
Ryan, Steven, and Clint have done a fantastic job helping keep our
preparation timely and effective. I'm really happy the Trac has
helped us all keep tuned in to what's going on and what remains to be
done.
My plan is to continue assisting with FUDCon Tempe up through the
actual event, including follow-up work like making sure bills are
accounted for an paid. Following the release of Fedora 14 I may be
asking Jared to help chair more of the meetings and help manage the
Trac queue.
I am trying to concentrate my efforts on critical-path tasks for
FUDCon, including where a Red Hat credit card is required. :-) For
other tasks, such as securing outside sponsorships, I'm encouraging
planning group to:
* Push initiatives forward they think are important for the event
* Keep the group informed through this list and the Trac
* Collaborate using our community tools like the wiki wherever
possible
* Not block on me personally unless they need something paid or (for
whatever reason) some official blessing
For upcoming FUDCon events in other geos, like the upcoming FUDCon
LATAM, I'll make sure Jared and other appropriate stakeholders such as
the Red Hat Community Architecture team (which provides the lion's
share of funding) are set up with some sort of general schedule to
keep those events moving forward.
To make those events successful their organizing teams need to be
committed to transparent communication -- much like the Tempe event.
I know they'll step up to the plate and do a fantastic job!

The bid period for the next Fedora Users and Developers Conference
(FUDCon) in the LATAM region is open, and will remain open for a few
more weeks. The bid process for FUDCon is outlined here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon_bid_process
Two bids have already been received for FUDCon at this point, and the
process will continue soon with an award, a budget, and an open and
transparent planning process:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:LATAM_2011_Bid_Panamahttp://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:LATAM_2011_Bid_Foz
Bids will continue to be accepted until *September 30, 2010*. Bids
must be published on the Fedora wiki, and a URL for the bid sent to
the fudcon-planning list:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/fudcon-planning
The majority budget holder, the Community Architecture team, will
consult with the bid teams and regional Ambassador leadership, work
with the Fedora Project Leader to decide on a location and date, and
make an announcement of the next LATAM region FUDCon soon afterward.
Decisions for a FUDCon location are made on the basis of many factors,
including costs, quality and quantity of bid information provided,
facilities available, bid team commitment, and the desire to move
FUDCon around a given region where practical.
Once the venue and dates are decided, planning for the LATAM region
FUDCon event is expected to happen on the general fudcon-planning
list. Planning will include regular, weekly meetings and use of a
publicly visible ticket queue. This transparency helps the Fedora
community participate; community members can help organizers plan and
execute the work that goes into the FUDCon event. That participation
can produce a higher quality event that meets or exceeds attendee
expectations.
FUDCon is held several times each year around the globe as part of
Fedora's premier events strategy. You can read more about Fedora
events here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Premier_Fedora_Events

Please remove 'announce-list' from any replies to this message, since
they'll be removed from its moderation queue. Thank you!
