--- Comment #1 from Jens Petersen petersen@redhat.com 2010-01-16 07:55:34 EST --- Yes, my bad for not putting it into updates testing first...
I asked if releng would untag the package but failing that I may have to bump epoch for 0.6.2.

--- Comment #2 from Jens Petersen petersen@redhat.com 2010-01-16 07:59:02 EST --- (As a workaround of course you could remove the haskell-platform package, but that may not be what you want...)
(FWIW I think 0.6.4 and 0.6.2 are fairly compatible.)

I am thinking now rather than pulling the package or bumping epoch I would like to push a haskell-platform update allowing cabal-install >= 0.6.2. I think that should not cause any problems.
This seems somewhat non-kosher, since upstream haskell-platform defines the included packages so precisely. But if you think it will be compatible, that's your judgment call.

Yep that is why I have been soliciting opinions from users and upstream. You're the first to raise concern but I am listening and had hoped for more feedback/comments.
But if you think it will be compatible, that's your judgment call.
cabal-install is just a cli so it should not impact the haskell-platform API but having said that 0.6.4 has not had as wide testing as 0.6.2 but there are not any known issues AFAIK and I have inspected the diff.
I would really rather avoid the epoch (wish I had not pushed that update late at night..:-/) but if keeping cabal-0.6,4 is a bad idea then I am willing to rethink, which is why haskell-platform is in testing now and not final updates. :)
