[Fwd: [ilugd] Workshops at local colleges]

Hi,
The Computer Society of India (CSI), Ghaziabad Chapter, is interested
in organising lectures, and workshops aimed largely at students in local
colleges. The first such event is planned to be a one-day workshop on
the 7th of June, at the Indraprastha Engineering College in Ghaziabad.
More details on this after I meet with them this Fri.
As we have had such events in the past, and some of them, such as the
one in RKGIT, Ghaziabd, have been very successful in attracting students
to participate in ILUG-D activities, I think that we should encourage
them more than we have been doing. Towards this end, I have prepared a
list of potential topics for a workshop at
http://wiki.linux-delhi.org/cgi-bin/twiki/Main/CollegeExpo
Please feel free to edit it.
The idea is to come up with a list of topics, along with a plan of
what to cover, and how much time it would take. For example, I have done
this for the topics on Indian language computing. Then, for any particular
workshop, we can mix and match topics according to local interest.
Hopefully, this will allow us to do such workshops in a systematic way.
Regards,
Gora

Fedora IITM Mirror
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi,
IIT Madras/Chennai mirror is now on the Fedora mirror list. They already
have Fedora 7 and Fedora 8 and should pick up Fedora 9 soon. IIT Mumbai
said something about policy issues and have not signed up yet. I am
going to continue following up now and then. Again, if you can help by
signing up or getting anyone else to sign up as a mirror, please do that.

Hi Girish,
Your ext3 driver file is corrupted. You can use the rescue mode of the
Fedroa 8 DVD. Replace the /lib/ext3.ko to /mnt/sysimage/lib/ext3.ko.
restarting PC should resolve this issue.
Thanks
Mehul

Problem in Booting
by Sabarigirisan S
I have installed Fedora 8 in my PC. I have been using it for the past two
months. Now there seems to be a problem in booting.
While it is booting I get the message
Module signature verification failes
insmod: error inserting '/lib/ext3.ko':-1 Key was rejected by service
Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while...
Found volume group "VolGroup00" using metadata type lvm2
2 logical volume(s) in volume group "VolGroup00" now active
mount: error mounting /dev/root on /sysroot as ext3: No such device
setuproot: moving /dev failed: No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /proc: No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /sys: No such file or directory
switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory
Please help
Thanks & Regards
