That's a good way to contribute. The Ambassadors programme is currently
undergoing some restructuring, so the sponsorship process etc. is not
really active there.
I can't edit my wiki page since it says "cla+1" and
can't even login
and was told to join Fedora join SIG on #fedora-india.
Yes---unfortunately we got far too much spam on the wiki and had to
resort to this to keep it in check.
Ah, what they meant in #fedora-india was to get in touch with the Join
SIG, not join it. The Join SIG is working on a new process for
newcomers. It'll be up in a week or two. You can read about it here:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/fedora-join@lists.fedorapro...
If you can please subscribe to the mailing list also and introduce
yourself there, we can help you get started with whatever you'd like to
do in Fedora.
Before I finish, a few points to note:
- You do not need to be in any FAS groups to be able to speak about
Fedora or Free/Open Source philosophy. You don't need to be an
Ambassador either.
- Next, Ambassadors specifically are seasoned contributors who have
worked in different parts of Fedora and know enough to be able to go
and speak about Fedora---not just spread the word about the OS but
actually speak about what is going on *inside* Fedora: what is new,
what processes are changing, what new software are we looking at, and
so on.
So, before applying to be an Ambassador, we strongly suggest that
people work in the community for a bit to learn what is going on.
So, what I would suggest is that you subscribe to a few mailing lists
(the Join SIG mailing list first if you're unsure of which ones to
join), see what is going on, talk to people and get to know the
community first. There's plenty of time to go attend events and spread
the word. :)
