Correct, report_mirror is an optional feature. Checking all the mirrors
we have takes a lot of time so if you run report_mirror after your sync
we will know immediately if you are up to date or not. It helps, but it
is not required.

Hello,
We recently received this automated message. We are mirroring a wide variety of free
software so are using our own standard mirroring method rather than distribution specific
tools.
While I am looking at integrating the mirror_report script into those tools for the
fedora mirror, I just wanted to confirm - this is an optional feature correct, not a
requirement for mirroring from our official fedora upstream source?
