Subject: adding more languages...
hi
our UTRRS [1] project need to expand for more languages, specially we
can start with few Asian languages (currently UTRRS only supports Indian
Languages). For start we can add Minimum Unicode code point for those
languages. Before that we can start review current status and discuss
about future plans.
if you have any thoughts or ideas, we can start sharing now.
Hi Team
In adding more Asian languages like Chinese, Japanese, Korean means first of all, we need
to add the codepoints as Aman mentioned, according to the Unicode Chart. But these
symbolic languages has no GSUB or GPOS as such. As I discussed with Aman, we can try to
add some of the locales which follows Bramhi scripts like Thai, Vietnamese or so, as the
grammatical rules for these locales more or less like Indic locales in his opinion. If so,
then we can add the codepoints of these locales first and then work on adding GSUB or GPOS
if exists with research and communicating with the corresponding communities.
yes, CJK may not required GSUB or GPOS, so south-east-asian Scripts can
be good start
We have another task for Indic locales pending which is adding 3rd or
above level of conjuncts (GSUB). We need to discuss and request LMs to submit list of 3rd
or more levels of conjuncts, in case there are any presence of such list in their
respective locales and currently not present in UTRRS instance.
few 3 or 4 combinations are already there, which need to separate out to
make data uniform.
Thanks
