qcow2, writeback, virtio with virtinst/koan

Hi, First thing first : a big thanks to cobbler community for this great service ! This question is partially redondant with : http://www.mail-archive.com/cobbler@lists.fedorahosted.org/msg06617.html We would like to switch from custom script/virt-install/cobbler solution to custom script/koan/cobbler (mainly because we have to spread in non DHCP areas :)) With virt-install we are happily using this option : --disk /path/to/image.img,size=size,format=qcow2,cache=writeback,bus=virtio,io=native Is there any way to do the same thing with koan ? Can't find it in helper and fresh code. Thanks in advance. In which version of Cobbler is version X.Y of distro Z officially supported

HI All, I having some difficulty finding out which version of Cobbler introduces *official* support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2. In some release notes there will be a mention of official support for a particular distro version, but not often. For example, Cobbler version 2.2.1 says "Add support for Fedora16, rawhide, OpenSuSE 11.x and 12.1." That's awesome but other release notes don't always offer as helpful and obvious details. Browsing Git source is laborious and so far hasn't helped a whole lot. So, in general, is there a central place (like a table) showing official support for distro version in specific Cobbler versions? I haven't been able to find such a thing and I'd love to have one. In fact, I'm willing to maintain a page on the Cobbler wiki if I have proper information from the right people. :-) Thanks for your help, Patrick P.S. https://github.com/cobbler/cobbler/wiki/Distribution-support is a start but it's lacking. For example, the BSD/FreeBSD block doesn't mention version numbers of BSD or Cobbler. Ubuntu/Debian block doesn't mention versions supported, Kinda important to know. The SuSE block only mentions SLES9 but Cobbler 2.2.1 adds support for OpenSuSE 11.x and 12.x. You get my point. I'm happy to help correct this.

Cobblerd fails to start

Hello, I'm trying to install cobbler from git (master branch) onto a freshly installed debian server. Install with kernel issues

I'm new to Cobbler but pretty familiar with Kickstart. I've been testing out Cobbler on one PC using Virtualbox for the clients and all the services on the host PC. Using a bridged network for the clients so they can see the whole network. CentOS 6.2 x86_64 all round. Latest updates of all involved software. The problem I am having is that some kind of kernel issue is occurring during build and when the client reboots it won't fully come up. The screen shows several lines reading: "FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64/modules.dep: No such file or directory." Then: "Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!" Booting the client into rescue I can see the last line of the /root/install.log reads: "/sbin/new-kernel-pkg: line 309: 2970 Killed depmod -ae -F /boot/System.map-$version $version *** FINISHED INSTALLING PACKAGES ***" Any thoughts on what may be going wrong or am I missing something? Hi Everyone, I'm running cobbler 2.2.1-1 on a CentOS 5.5 system. I run this command: cobbler buildiso -profile=profile1,profile2 When I look into the isolinux.cfg file I don't see any entries. If I run it specifying a single profile name or if I drop the -profile argument all together then I get a correct isolinux.cfg. I know that this worked in 2.0.11. Cobbler choking on an SLES profile

I have imported SLES 11.1, and set up a profile to use it. cobbler Web UI scripts create excessive server CPU usage?

Hi, I had a problem the other day; my cobbler server (RHEL6.2, cobbler-2.0.11-2.el6.noarch, cobbler-web-2.0.11-2.el6.noarch) was bogged down quite a bit my httpd processes. Nearly all the CPU was being used. I believe I have narrowed it down to the 4-or-5 tabs I had ;eft open to the cobbler web interface. They were open for several hours at least (maybe a day?). Restarting apache didn't resolve the issue -- the CPU usage climbed very high again. But after I closed the tabs (and restarted apache again), the CPU usage went back to idle. It's odd -- just one tab consumes 4% CPU just sitting at the cobbler home page. It appears that the pages execute periodic ajax queries. If you have a lot of tabs open, those queries seem to add up and create a bottleneck of some kind (???). If I turn off Javascript in the browser, the CPU usage on the server goes away. Anyone else seeing this? Is there anything I can do on the server side to alleviate this? managing ilage in cobbler

Hi i m using cobbler 2.0.11 and i have the following problem. I would like to use pxechain for some of my computer in order to make them installed by WDS. if in my /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/mac-adress file i put DEFAULT local PROMPT 0 TIMEOUT 0 TOTALTIMEOUT 0 ONTIMEOUT local LABEL local KERNEL pxechain.com APPEND 192.168.249.5 it works perfectly well. The problems is that i don't see how to intergrate that in cobbler i have tried to use the image functionnality. i ran cobbler image edit --name=wds --file=/tftpboot/images/pxechain.com --image-type=direct and cobbler system edit --name=i0012324 --image=wds --netboot-enabled=1 but i got in the file default linux prompt 0 timeout 1 label linux kernel /images2/wds ipappend 2 append ksdevice=bootif lang= kssendmac text It s almost good except the append part how can i manage the append part to put what i want in it. -- Eric Doutreleau Ingénieur Système et Réseau CEA- Genoscope (Evry) Tel : 0160874583

In the most recent versions, it doesn't use python-virtinst at all anymore.
