That's what I see at the server where I want to install CentOS onto (via KVM).
I made sure the Cobbler script is working, tested the install on
another server where the install worked.
I can ping and access the server that I want to install to ... so all
is fine with cables, and that is on the same networks, same subnet. I
also double-checked the IP and MAC address, all correct.
I would continue debugging like this:
- boot a uable linux on the to-be-installed server, i.e. grml
live-cd
- start sniffing on that servers network-interface
- start sniffing on the pxe-servers interface, filtering for
to-be-installed servers mac address
- running dhclient on the to-be-installed server
Its the same action as the pxe-code does but should provide you
exactly with what data is leaving the box and what (if at all)
arrives at the server.
If it works here and not with the network-cards PXE implementation
then only differences between these 2 implementations could strike
in i guess..
Now I wonder if maybe there is an issue because of the HP switch that
server is connected to. We have two 24-port HP switches stacked up --
that is, this server is connected to the 2nd switch which is
connected to the first switch. Could that be a cause?
Rule it out in PXE-booting with a crossover-cable or something..
