I know there was a few discussions on moving the
workflow to plone but there doesnt seem to be be enough expertise
currently to implement it.
Expertise is a small part of the issue. There's infrastructure work to be
done, strategic decisions to be made, and more infrastructure work to be
done. If you believe you can help in answering some of the issues from the
PloneIssues page, please feel free to start a thread on this list or drop in
on the next meeting.
Some of the questions are a simple matter of teaching Plone usage. Some of
the issues need strategic decisions. Others need a technical solution. The
technical solutions will follow as Infrastructure does its thing and the Docs
infrastructure is built to use Plone.
Assuming no presence of plone, can we
directly publish to
fedoraproject.org/docs from CVS?
No. The infrastructure would require adaptation to do this, and there would
have to be a static HTML container built and put into place. The current
system is also dependent upon PHP, which is not an option for
fedoraproject.org. These are just some of the reasons that Plone is a
target. Believe me, if it had been so easy to move to
fedoraproject.org/docs, it would have already been done.
Documentation project is the only major user of
fedora.redhat.com
currently and moving over would help us set up redirects and maintain a
single website.
There are a few other things still reliant upon
fedora.redhat.com, but moving
docs over would be a huge step in the right direction and would put
additional pressure on the other hold-outs.
