Out of curiosity: Did you check the webui to see if the systems being
re-built have netboot enabled?
Ron, yes, I did ... it was always enabled ... and I also did try this
with another server that had cPanel etc. installed. Doesn't work
there either. BUT it works with a server that never had cPanel
installed, there I can do multiple OS installs. Same basic server
type ... in all three cases I see (looking at them over KVM) that the
server's PXE program searches for the DHCP orders from the Cobbler
installer VPS server. Also, on one of the two servers where this does
not work anymore, it did work fine there three months ago, so I know
it is not a hardware issue.
Could it not be any of the services below that I disabled before on
both servers -- are any of these actually already up and running and
needed in the preboot execution environment? Maybe 'anacron' or
'mDNSResponder'?
