Fedora packaging: unison?
by Adam Williamson
Hi, Gerard. I just realized I need a newer build of Unison - 2.32 - to
sync with a machine running a different distro. I see from the -devel
archives that you currently don't have enough time to maintain your
packages.
I'd like to ask you to make me a co-maintainer so I can do this, but
obviously with the way you have unison packaged there's something of a
wrinkle :). What was the initial reason for the 2.18 / 2.27 packaging
split? Is there any reason to continue to package multiple releases?
Should we just go back to having a single, 2.32-versioned 'unison'
package, or should we bump unison227 to be 2.32, or add a unison232
package? Thanks!

No disagreement here in that GnuPG (of whatever version) should work with Emacs and vim. That should be fixed. However, as a GnuPG developer, I'd like to suggest another reason for keeping both GnuPG 1.x and 2.x: although there is significant overlap, they're not really aimed at the same problem. 1.x is aimed at servers where its "all in one" construction simplifies things, or in embedded systems or other places where space is tight. Some people also prefer the smaller and more easily reviewed code base and thus use 1.x as their "desktop" GnuPG. The version numbering is unfortunate in that it suggests that 2.x replaces 1.x, but in reality, the 1.x branch is a maintained product on its own.
1.x and 2.x are designed to be able to be installed together if necessary (note that the upstream code generates a binary named "gpg2" - the "gpg" binary in F13 is due to a local patch). This was done very well in F11.
See, for example:
http://www.mail-archive.com/gnupg-users@gnupg.org/msg04642.html
and

Is import.log of any use?
by Jesse Keating

Not sure if I've asked the wider audience here, but is the import.log
file of any use to anybody? It's one more file that might differ
between branches even when all else is the same, and I don't necessarily
want to keep munging it with fedpkg when importing items. Would anybody
cry if this file went away?

Lost all empathy accounts after update this morning (F13)
by Matthew Booth
When I booted my machine this morning and started Empathy everything was
fine. I did a rather big yum update this morning (including
updates-testing), and I had reason to reboot my machine this afternoon.
Empathy no longer has any of my accounts in it.
I can't see anything obvious in yum.log which might have caused this,
hence this email rather than a BZ or some negative karma. This is
obviously a serious problem which I'd like to see others avoid if it
hasn't already escaped updates-testing. The only suspects I had were
updates to telepathy-butterfly and telepathy-gabble, but they don't seem
to run any scripts. Don't see anything relating to gconf either...
Here's yum.log from this morning. Can anybody offer any guesses?

Broken rhythmbox in rawhide

Just to let you know that despite being installable, those 2 packages
will need some work before they are usable.
Rhythmbox needs porting to gtk3, so as not to have clashing GTK2 and
GTK3 usage.
