/usr/etc?
by Lennart Poettering
I noticed this:
$ rpm -qf /usr/etc
filesystem-3.2-12.fc19.x86_64
$ repoquery --whatprovides '/usr/etc/*'
mirall-common-0:1.3.0-1.fc19.x86_64
mirall-common-0:1.3.0-1.fc19.i686
Since when do we have /usr/etc, and what is it for?
Maybe I am the only one but I see very little benefit in introducing a
new Fedoraism like this...

Problem with mass rebuild / latex2html errors
by Simone Caronni
Hello,
I have a problem on the bacula-docs package in Fedora 20. Build was stuck
for 15 hours and then killed by Koji:
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=5698742
I was able to reproduce it locally with mock; all the "latex2html" commands
get stuck indefinitely. An example command from the Koji build:
make[1]: Entering directory
`/builddir/build/BUILD/bacula-docs-5.2.13/manuals/en/developers'
[...]
latex2html -split 4 -local_icons -t "Developer's Guide" -long_titles 4 \
-toc_stars -contents_in_nav -init_file latex2html-init.pl \
-no_antialias -no_antialias_text \
-white -notransparent developers >tex.out 2>&1
make[1]: *** [web] Error 1
If I look into the tex.out log file I can see that the command gets stuck
creating an infinite line of dots. Example:
$ tail 2 tex.out | less
==> tex.out <==
;...;..
120/213:subsection:...."Minimal Code in Console Program" for General.html
;..;...
121/213:subsection:...."GUI Interface is Difficult" for General.html
;..,....,....,...;...........
...
122/213:section:...."Bvfs API" for Bvfs_API.html
;...,.................................................. [...]
The moment I stopped my mock build that was running for 3 minutes I already
had an 18 mb file; 90% of it filled with dots in the last line.
Any idea / insight on where to look for clues / fixes?
Thanks,
--Simone

Anyone interested in spambayes?
by Paul Howarth
I'm currently the maintainer of spambayes, which I picked up when it got
orphaned by its previous maintainer as I needed it for
trac-spamfilter-plugin, with which I've not had any problems.
However, a few people using it with kmail have reported issues with it
on occasion, and since it's not very active upstream and I'm not a
python person, there's not a lot I can do to help them. Is there anyone
here who could give it more love?
Paul.

Orphaned perl-PDL-Graphics-PLplot
by Orion Poplawski
I've orphaned perl-PDL-Graphics-PLplot in Fedora and EPEL. We're just
not using PDL anymore here.

Excludearch/Exclusivearch reminder
by Kevin Fenzi
Greetings.
With the recent addition of arm in our primary buildsystem, I am seeing
some packages add ExcludeArch: arm or ExclusiveArch: %{ix86}
First, please DO NOT add ExclusiveArch on x86, unless your package
really and truly doesn't build on ANY of our secondary arches too.
(ppc64, s390).
If you exclude arm support for now, please file a bug against your
package with the information about the missing arm support and then
add "F-ExcludeArch-arm" to the Blocks field on your bug. This will make
the arm team aware of the issue, as well as FESCo to track what items
are missing for full primary promotion.
Please see:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Guidelines#Architecture_Build_Fa...
for additional information.
Thank you for your cooperation.
kevin
