Re: rawhide no longer recognizing autotool macros
by Philip Kovacs
None that I can tell. Years ago when I was writing my specs to add the packages I now maintain, I recallsomeone recommended to me the use of these macros as Fedora "tribal knowledge."
I am happy to remove mine if their use is unnecessary and could lead to breakage. On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, 11:31:24 AM EDT, Christophe de Dinechin <cdupontd(a)redhat.com> wrote:

What’s the downside of removing it?

Dynamic BuildRequires on Fedora 29/30: Possible!
by Igor Gnatenko
Hello,
All applications written in Rust are shipped to stable releases via
modules which includes building all crates (libraries), applications
themselves and throwing away all crates (since those are linked
statically).
However, since we are using dynamic BuildRequires[0] as of yesterday
it is not possible to build those RPMs on F29 and F30 anymore because
their RPM does not support this feature.
I was thinking about way how to solve this problem so I have created a
module "rpm" with stream "4.15" which is building RPM from the master
dist-git branch. RPM 4.15 did not change RPM packages in some
incompatible manner, it should be okay-ish to install packages it
produced using RPM 4.14 :)
So just add "rpm: [4.15]" into the buildrequires section of your
module and be happy[1] :)
Obviously, some RPMs depend on librpm.so.7, so it won't be possible to
build some things using this way and generally this is just a hack...
But I'm going to look what can be done to improve our build-time
situation around rpmbuild features.

How to consume fedora-messaging?
by Igor Gnatenko
Hello,
I have been trying to write some script which would listen on
generation of new repository / successful build is tagged in Koji and
do some actions locally. Or basically whenever someone pushes commits,
I want to fetch repo locally.
I was reading https://fedora-messaging.readthedocs.io/en/latest/consuming.html,
but it is not very clear to me where I can find list of topics and
what data messages will contain...
Bonus point who can tell me how does it know which messages should be
re-queued and how to manipulate that.
Thanks!

Possibly Unresponsive Maintainer: gil
by Fabio Valentini
Hi,
When working on the Java Stack for the Stewardship SIG, I've come
across multiple packages that are officially maintained by gil, but it
looks like he stopped contributing to fedora more than two years ago
(I checked mailing lists, bugzilla, bodhi, koji, and his src.fp.org
dist-git repos).
There are multiple pages [0] of open bugzilla bugs assigned to him,
and none got any response from him for years, so I think I can safely
skip opening another bug for one of his packages ...
He also should have received multiple emails from me during the last
two months, when I asked maintainers depending on some of the
Stewardship SIG's packages for help, and he didn't react to any of
these, either ([1] [2], among others).
If nobody can provide me information to the contrary (i.e. that he's
still an active contributor somehow), I will file a FESCo issue to
initiate the unresponsive maintainer process in a week (June 27).
Thanks,
Fabio (decathorpe)
