I'm ignorant about MAS, but one question to consider is:
Does MAS work in a non-graphical, non X11 environment?
Not everybody does audio stuff while running X.

I don't get it, why isn't MAS implemented as the standard sound daemon
for gnome and kde. Isn't it ready yet or is there another problem?
