I know -- first hand, as a sysadmin! -- that this kind of change is disruptive. However, the journal has many benefits from a sysadmin point of view (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4CACB7paLc), and I think it's within Fedora's mission and Features/First mandate to explore it and see how we can bring those benefits while also working to reduce the transition cost.
