I installed F10 (great job BTW) however when I try to install software with
YUM I get the following error:

Trying other mirror.
Error Downloading Packages:

No more mirrors to try.

firefox downloads the file without issue.
Is this a known issue with YUM?

You have the adobe flash repo installed, and its down, so yum is
failing
to connect to it. Try with --disablerepo=adobe until their systems get
sorted.

Just a thought... Not that I could program it. But its happened to me
before that I had to do that, so automatically doing it or asking me
would be awesome.

FWIW I have a similar issue which seems to be due to some sort of DNS
lookup problem. In my case I'd get the 'Name or service not known' for
download1.rpmfusion.org.
My /etc/nsswitch.conf file says to use files and dns
The /etc/resolv.conf is setup properly
I tried disabling ipv6 completely but the symptoms stay the same
ping and firefox seem to resolve the addresses correctly, but wget and
ssh do not
The failures occur for only some sites (like linuxdownload.adobe.com
and download1.rpmfusion.org) but do not occur with others
(like download.fedoraproject.org iirc). The failures consistently
occur for the same sites
Putting the IP addresses in /etc/hosts "works around" the problem
No idea what's going on...

Not for me. I had a similar problem yesterday on a "svn up". Trying a
second time immediately afterwards worked. Has happened a few times
since F-10 upgrade.

After using F10 for a longer time, I believe that the issue might be a more

I noticed this as well. I just updated my WiFi-only laptop (full install)
to Fedora 10. Doing something as simple as 'yum update' now fails with
tons of DNS lookup failures. Very odd because I'm using a repository mirror
(baseurl) to a machine in the next room :-( Retries give similar, but different,
failures.

FYI many ISPs seem to have DNS problems from time to time. I have
taken to running tshark to watch what is going on:
tshark -i any -f 'port 53'
For many people the DNS server will be a proxy on the local router,
but it's perfectly valid to edit new entries into /etc/resolv.conf to
use external DNS servers (eg. OpenDNS). This can confirm that problems
relate to the 'default' DNS setup.
OT but I have a reasonably fast ADSL2+ connection that often suffers
slow DNS (multiple seconds for a lookup).

I'm seeing this as well, seems to be in BZ 459756 and 471450. It seems
as though at least some DNS servers get confused by the parallel AAAA
and A queries and only respond to one of them. The worst part is that
the nature of the problem will make it hard to update to a fixed
implementation. I think this particular issue is worth a mention in
Bugs/F10Common because it seems to be relatively wide spread (seems to
be impacting comcast users reliably).

Interesting data point as I am also a Comcast user. Also, even though it
would appear that we have narrowed down the cause, it case it is relevant,
here is my router configuration:
Buffalo WHR-G125 running DD-WRT v24-sp1.

I noticed that the thread mentions running DNSmasq as a proxy on an F10
system as a workaround. I am running DNSmasq on my router as part of
DD-WRT. should this have the same effect?
