Hi,
Can anyone tell me if soundcard support in rawhide is supposed
to be working? I have a machine that the soundcard worked under FC1 but
on rawhide I get unable to load driver snd-via82_xx when I try to test
the soundcard using the config-soundcard thing.
FWIW, The kernel modules appear to be loaded. If this is something I should
bugzilla what component should I list it against? I tried searching bugzilla
but found nothing.

What's the specific error?
When I goto system settings -> soundcard detection -> play test sound.
I get "The snd-via82xx driver could not be loaded. This soundcard may
not be compatible with Red Hat Linux".
Come to think of it looks like someone missed editing an error message. ;)
FWIW this is a fresh install of rawhide yesterday and the partitions were
formatted.
I do not get any sound and an lsmod shows the modules are loaded:

open mixer device /dev/sound/mixer" and sure enough, there is no
/dev/sound/mixer device file. Do I need an updated dev package? Need
to create the node manually? Are my modprobe.conf settings correct?

I am having some problems with my Athlon64 box as well. But since I am not
running the Rawhide kernel but a custom one, it may be a problem with the
alsa libs or something. It was working and stopped. Interestly enough that's
not the first time I have seen alsa do that.

What output do you get with the following commands?

I checked that before I posted. It was indeed muted but unmuting it and
turning it all the way up did not help. Seems like kind of a weird default
but none the less that is not the problem in my case.
