but I was very dismayed to find that today's F13 update (which pulled
in a lot of changes) hosed my laptop. It removed almost everything
from /boot, and removed or emptied /sbin, /bin, /usr/sbin and /usr/bin.
It removed nearly everything from /lib and /usr/lib.
I suspect that it removed everything yum-owned, since the few remaining
files (at least the shift-jis ones) are ones I put there manually:
What happened?
I started the "yum -y update", and didn't hang around to watch everything.
When I came back, the text displayed in all terminals was in a completely
illegible all-rectangles font, but emacs was ok (I'd installed it myself).
However, I couldn't start a shell from emacs (no surprise, now that I
know /bin was removed). Maybe yum actually told me it was going to
remove everything and if I'd been watching I could have stopped it.
I don't know.
pleae look in /var/lib/yum/history/
and attach any/all files you find there to a bug report.
but just going by the log you attached it looks like an update followed by
cleanup erasures - but the history log will tell us a lot more.
