I hope I am at the right place: I want to request a new package to be added to the fedora
repos.
I'd like kubectx kubens to be added. They are really nice Kubernetes tools to change
the cluster or the namespace respectively.
The source can be found under kubectx.dev.

Actually... I wonder... Do we have packager(s) available for hire here? I know that we
have Package maintainers wishlist:

Most of us do the package maintenance because it is our hobby or because our employer pays
for that (and we are limited
to the packagers of our employer choice). But ... do we have here someone willing to do
packaging and maintenance of

available for hire?

Someone interested in such package in Fedora/EPEL. Be it person, small shop or large
enterprise company.
E.g. Several years ago, friend of mine wanted to have newer version of gdal for EPEL. He
was willing to pay for that. It
was definitely not enough for full time employment or even part time. But it could be nice
task for a freelancer. I will
bet that there is lots of people around the world who does not know anything about
packaging and they would love to have
some package in Fedora/EPEL. And some of those people are willing to pay for it. If you
came to Red Hat with few bucks
in pocket and wish for python-foo to be present in RHEL, then Red Hat is going to reject
you (you will need more than
few bucks), but for freelancer and EPEL this is win-win.

Maybe I'm going a little OT, but speaking about hiring someone, as far
as I understand it seems to me that Fedora project has an annual budget
that is never fully spent:

I would rather like to see someone hired by Fedora to do full time
maintenance of core components for our distribution. We rely on freetime
of coders from the community as well as on RH employees, but the latter
is mainly for projects where RH is interested in.
For example, I would like to see a full time developer (or two...)
running across issues in Bodhi, Pagure, Koji. These are the first three
core components that come to my mind, but sure there are more which
don't have enough care because they're not in the primary interest of RH.
While Pagure and Koji both have valid contributors and quite clear
primary maintainers, we lack a clear maintainer for Bodhi. I've been
trying to fix some easy bugs every now and then, but I still think we
need a professional coder responsible which lay out the development path
and with the time to investigate deeper on longstanding bugs. If Fedora
project has some money to spend, I would recommend spending them in this.

One issue is that funding for Fedora is not fully fungible due to
various countries' tax and income laws. It can be spent on events, and
services but it can rarely be spent on paying for a coder as that
quickly falls under employment and various finance laws. [Money for
Fedora is basically Red Hat's money as Fedora is not a legally
distinct organization. This is also a reason why Fedora can't accept
monetary donations.] In order for a person to be paid by this money,
there has to be some sort of contract between them and Red Hat with
all the legal and associated filings.

simply point to one of the many sites whose
business is to connect freelancers with
work-for-hire.

Too many sites. And package maintanance is niche on most them. E.g., Upwork has currently
only one RPM packaging job
listed. And most RPM searches return the abbreviation for "Page revenue per thousand
impressions".
These freelancer sites usually list "create an src.rpm for me", while on that
wiki page I meant to announce "maintain
the package **in Fedora** for me".
Still, it does not block anyone to use the freelancer sites for payment as they usually
has nice process for escrow.

Very very very few people touch the Fedora wiki and that has been the
case since the early days. Infrastructure regularly gets asked by
people who could do it themselves to make changes. Part of the reason
is that while anyone could edit it.. there are too many cases where
someone changes it back right away because they don't want anyone else
to touch it any more than they want anyone to touch their packages.
You get your hand slapped or see someone get their hand slapped, and
you just let infrastructure deal with it since they can use bigger
clubs. This has been going on for 15+ years going from the moin days
to the now days and I don't expect it to change. If QA didnt use it
for their testing dumping grounds, I would melt the wiki down to its
component parts years ago.

The term 'dumping grounds' has a lot of negative connotations which I
should have realized. My apologies to everyone in QA as it sounds like
I was insulting their work. My connotation was that they have a lot of
automated scripts and programs which write to the wiki in places and
that in the end they are the primary users of the wiki. Trying to move
them out of it would require a large amount of work by multiple teams.
It is not a dumping grounds.

It is not a dumping grounds.
It's worth noting that we don't still 'need the wiki' as a place to
dump *automated* test results. It's rather the reverse. We still need
it for *manual* tests and results. If we only had the automated tests
and results, we could ditch the wiki tomorrow, because the tests
themselves are stored in code repos, and the results all go to
resultsdb (and fedora-messaging). The reason we still need the wiki is
that it's where we keep *manual* test cases and results. We 'mirror'
relevant automated test results to the wiki so there's a single place
where you can see everything.
If we had some place other than the wiki to store manual test cases and
results, we could stop using it, but that has proved rather difficult.
An alternative idea would be a restricted wiki instance which only
allowed the creation of pages with names following the patterns used
for QA purposes, and perhaps only allowed unauthenticated users to
submit edits which consisted entirely of valid "test results"...
