wasted much energy at cursing at current Evince (it used to be such a
nice app...)
We could, but we already have to have gtk3 for things like NM, so not
sure it gets us much. How active are they? Any other advantages?

Atril wont save space, on the contrary it drags in mate-desktop-libs to
the picture, however it fits the overall look and feel MUCH better than
any of those "modern" gtk3 abominations.
