unless I'm reading that forum thread wrong - it sure seems like apt-fast requires axel's repo? If that's true then I think it nixes any chance of the pkg getting into fedora.

The reference to "axel" appears to be about this download accelerator project: http://axel.alioth.debian.org/ and it's already packaged in Fedora too.

It was broken for quite a while, but meanwhile it is quite usable again.
