I would argue that it's a bug in mozilla-devel in that it ought to have
Requires: mozilla-nspr-devel

I too am a long time user of RedHat and have never really found a place
to contribute, but would love to help out on the Fedora Project. I have
developed apps in C and Gtk before (although most of my development
knowledge is in VB and ASP on the Windows side), but I have used
Python/PyGTK a little bit and don't think it would be that major of a
learning curve. Like Xavier, I am willing to help out on any projects
if any have started, or Xavier, I would be willing to work with you on a
task scheduler. Again, I don't want to be a burden to anyone, and don't
mind doing dirty work, just let me know what you need and I would be
more than willing to help, as long as I have free time at that moment.
Would love to get my feet wet in the development process, so let me know
if you need anything.
Thanks,
Matt

Development offer

Hi there,
I've just been through the Fedora web site, after reading the RedHat
announcement about stoping support on RedHat Linux.
I've found that the Fedora project was missing some desktop tools, and
especially a system task scheduler. I had a try of Python/PyGTK a few
monthes ago and wanted to get a bit deeper with this environment. I found
usefull to start learning by contributing to something that will benfit to
the community. On top of that, I'm a Linux user since now 10 years, and
except translating some GNOME guides into french, I haven't contributed so
much.
So, my question is, does someone even start writing any spec/code on a
system task scheduler desktop tool for the Fedora project. If any, and if my
assistance is welcome, then please get in touch with me. If not, then I may
start working on my own side on some kind of specifications.
Bye,
Xavier Nicolovici

mod_frontpage packaging
by Shekhar
We use mod_frontpage for package apache for our RH servers. It is
already been included in Mandrake. I wonder can we [fedora] include this
as part for distro. If it can be included I would put this request
alongwith the package download URLs on fedora [.us?] site.
New version of this module can be used as a DSO.
TIA,

Link to Frontpage trademark:
http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=3Ddoc&state=3Dp46ru3.3.3
Somebody really need to check but afaik frontpage extensions are
redistributable.
> o A google search on mod_frontpage shows several reimplementations

The main issue with frontpage was there was a need to recompile / patch
apache to support frontpage. But now MIcrosoft has released
frontpage2002sr1.1 which does not have this issue. It can be used as a
DSO now. I belive that the old security issues are now absolute.

It ok even its in extras.

I guess there is.
1. Madrake includes it.
2. Most if not all web hosting service providers support frontpage.
3. Lot of web developers actually use frontpage to author site while the
sites actually r on apache server.
Personally I dont like it much though I guess above reasons r
sufficient.

Profession : Sysadmin (graduated from college in June 2003)

My goals in the Fedora Project :
I've been using Linux since 2000, and I've always believed in a future for
Linux on the desktop. I've always tried to bring people to try linux,
sometimes with success, sometimes not. Until recently, I've been using,
testing and contributing to Mandrake Linux. They have always represented
the desktop version of linux for me. But since the version 8, RedHat, and
now Fedora, has completely catched up with Mandrake in terms of
desktop-friendliness, and in my opinion RedHat and Fedora is miles ahead in
terms of stability, consistancy and standards-compliance (eg :
freedesktop.org standards). I now feel that the distribution I should
advise to new linux users is Fedora, even more since Fedora is a
community-driven project. As my ultimate goal is to help Linux be as
successful as possible on the desktop, I do wish to help Fedora with
packaging and testing.
Historical Qualifications
I have been a member of the Mandrake Linux testing community for about 2
years, following "Cooker" (the Mandrake version of Rawhide), trying to find
bugs, and contributing packages. I have actually been able to contribute
only 1 program, but there are so many already available there ;-)
I have very few skills in programming, mainly shell scripting, Java, and
Python. I've been concentrating on python lately and my skills are
improving quickly :-)
Why you should trust me ? Well, I don't really have any objective reason for
that. I am truly convinced of the bright future of Linux and Free Software.
It *will* become mainstream. The only question is "When ?". And I really
want to make it happen as soon as possible :-)
There are plenty of better packagers than me in the linux world, but you
should trust me for doing my very best :-)

apache2
by Oden Eriksson
Howdy folks.
A lot of people is sending their resume this way. But I don't have a fancy CV
or resume to pass.
I just have to pass the work I have been doing for the past 2-3 years for
Mandrake Linux and the apache2 suite I've been working with.
Here's a resume of that:
(the packages lives in the mandrake linux cooker contribs repository)
http://www.deserve-it.com/modules_for_apache2.html
I just wonder if the Redhat community would be interested in a similar
approach. Or maybe you guys's just to strict?
